SEO for Malaysian Businesses
On-page vs off-page, local SEO, timelines, and pricing.
What SEO actually is
SEO is making a page the best available answer to a question someone types into Google, then making it easy for Google to find that page and trust the site it sits on. Everything else is detail underneath those two jobs.
The detail splits four ways. On-page is what is actually on the page. Technical is whether Google can crawl, render and index it. Off-page is whether other sites vouch for you. Intent match is whether the page answers what the searcher meant rather than the words they used. Get intent wrong and the other three cannot save you.
The four things that decide whether you rank
Content depth and intent match
A page that covers a topic properly beats three shallow pages on the same topic. If someone searching a term wants a price and you give them a definition, you lose regardless of word count.
Technical health
Crawlable, indexable, fast enough, working on a phone. Technical SEO rarely wins you a ranking on its own. It regularly loses you one.
Authority
Links from other real sites. This is the slowest and hardest of the four, and on a new domain it is usually the thing actually holding you back, not your content. Anyone selling you more pages when the problem is authority is selling you the easy thing instead of the right thing.
Internal structure
How your own pages link to each other tells Google which of them matter. A page nothing links to is a page Google treats as unimportant, however good it is.
What SEO costs in Malaysia
Freelancers typically charge RM1,000 to RM3,000 a month, boutique agencies RM3,000 to RM8,000, and established agencies from RM8,000 upward. Ours starts at RM3,000 a month, listed openly on the pricing page. The longer breakdown of what drives the number is in kos SEO Malaysia and SEO pricing in Malaysia.
How long before it works
On an established domain, movement in three to four months and meaningful traffic around month six. On a brand new domain, four to eight months before it means anything, because Google has to trust the site before it ranks it and trust does not come from publishing faster.
What you should watch before rankings move: pages getting indexed, impressions climbing in Search Console, and average position improving while clicks stay flat. Those are the leading signals. Clicks are the last thing to arrive, not the first. More on timelines in berapa lama SEO nak nampak hasil.
How to tell you are being sold nonsense
A guaranteed position. Nobody controls Google. A guarantee means either the term is so obscure it has no traffic, or the promise is worthless.
Backlinks sold by volume. Five hundred links a month is a spam network, and the cleanup costs more than the links did.
No access to your own Search Console. It is your data. An agency that keeps it is protecting itself, not you.
Reports only from their own dashboard. Numbers that cannot be checked against Google are numbers you cannot check at all.

Both pages show the months that fell as well as the months that rose.
